DOMESTIC HOMICIDES

Serial killer  A person who murders 3 or more people over a period of more than a month, with a "cooling off period" between the murders.

  Stalker A person who stealthily hunts or pursues another person; one who harasses or persecutes someone with unwanted and obsessive attention

Domestic Homicide  Often the tragic end following abusive behaviors by one or both partners in an intimate relationship such as marriage, dating, or cohabitation.

The perfect family? 

  

Karen and Richard Sharpe lived in an upscale neighborhood of Gloucester, a seaside town in Massachusetts. To the neighbors, they seemed like the perfect couple. They had been married for 27 years and had three children. A dermatologist, Richard taught at Harvard Medical School and his medical practice and other businesses earned him millions of dollars.


But behind the happy facade, bizarre behavior haunted the household. For years, Richard had led a secret life. He was a cross-dresser who loved wearing slinky dresses, fishnet stockings and makeup. He took female hormones to make his breasts larger. In 1999 Karen told him she wanted a divorce.  Enraged, Richard stabbed her in the face with a fork.


Fearing for her life, Karen, 44, fled with their two youngest children and obtained a restraining order. It did her no good.
